The Role
We're looking for a Licensed Funeral Director (Class 1) who shares our passion for service and attention to detail. In this role, you'll help guide families through one of life's most difficult moments, providing care, reassurance, and professionalism every step of the way.
Key Responsibilities
· Meet with at-need and pre-need families to create meaningful, personalized services.
· Arrange and direct funerals, memorials, and celebrations of life.
· Prepare and file required documentation, including death certificates, permits, and insurance forms.
· Present service and merchandise options in a clear, compassionate manner.
· Complete transfers from hospitals, residences, and care facilities.
· Prepare the deceased, including embalming, dressing, casketing, and cosmetics, in our modern, high-ventilation ground-floor prep room.
· Oversee visitations, services, and receptions, ensuring every detail is handled with care.
· Coordinate with clergy, celebrants, musicians, and other service participants.
· Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of our service areas, facilities, vehicles, and equipment.
· Contribute to community outreach and events hosted by DeStefano Funeral Home.
Qualifications
· Class 1 Funeral Director's license in good standing (Ontario).
· Valid driver's license with clean abstract.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
· Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and funeral management software.
· Physical ability to perform transfers and handle necessary lifting safely.
