The successful candidate will combine strong facilitation and program development skills with sound judgment, cultural fluency, and a commitment to strengthening the resilience of Torontos Jewish communal infrastructure.</p><p>This role must also bring the gravitas, emotional intelligence, and experience toconvenediverse community leaders <span >andfacilitateconstructive</span> dialogue particularlyin moments of ideological conflict or polarization. UJAs unique role as a convener and trusted broker is central to our communitys strength, and the VP will embody and advance that role.</p><p></p><p>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:<br /></p><p>1.Community Cohesion & Convening</p><ul><li>Lead UJAs efforts to foster community cohesion and trust, including initiatives such as theLeading in Complexity, TogetherSummitand continued <span >initiatives,amongstothers.</span></li><li>Act as aneutral and trusted convener, guiding constructive dialogue among institutional leaders and lay stakeholders with differing ideological perspectives.</li><li>Develop tools, decision supports, and engagement strategies to help UJA and its partners navigate ideological tension with clarity and consistency.</li><li>Facilitate and broker conversations during moments of communal strain, helping <span >stakeholdersmaintaintrust</span> and connection in the face of disagreement.</li><li>Provide thought partnership to UJAs senior leadership and board in navigating sensitive community-wide issues.</li></ul><p>2.Crisis Readiness & Community Resilience</p><ul><li>Design and coordinate a community-wide crisis preparedness <span >approachincludingscenario</span> planning, institutional protocols, advisory networks, and leadership working groups.</li><li>Partner with internal departmentsand external partnersto ensure cohesive, proactive readiness across the Jewish community.</li><li>Lead simulations, debriefs, and capacity-building efforts to strengthen crisis leadership among institutional stakeholders.</li><li>Partner with the Research team to develop indicators and benchmarks for communal resilience and crisis responsiveness.</li></ul><p>3. Institutional Leadership Development (UJA Leadership Labs)<br /></p><ul><li>Oversee the rollout of UJALeadership Labs, a practical support hub for executive leaders across the Jewish institutional landscape.</li><li>Coordinate expert networks and peer forums to co-develop <span >anddisseminatepolicy</span> templates, governance tools, and compliance resources.</li><li>Support institutions in building stronger internal structures around safety, board governance, financial practices, and crisis communication.</li><li>Track usage, satisfaction, and <span >policyadoptionmetrics</span> to ensure continuous improvement and value.</li><li>We are looking for a strong, pragmaticcommunity connectorwho can bring people <span >togetheraroundsharedpurposeandget</span> things done.</li></ul><p>Must-Have Qualifications:</p><ul><li>710+ years of progressive leadership experience in community engagement, community development, strategy, nonprofit management, or institutional support.</li></ul><ul><li>Deep knowledge of Jewish community dynamics, including ideological diversity and the organizational landscape in Toronto and globally.</li></ul><ul><li>Passionate advocate and visible champion of UJAs mission, values, and goals, inspiring others through action and unwavering commitment to advancing our shared purpose.</li></ul><ul><li>Demonstrated experience <span >infacilitatingcross</span>-stakeholder initiatives, especially in sensitive or high-stakes contexts.</li></ul><ul><li>Proven ability to broker dialogue <span >andfacilitatesensitive</span> conversations with tact, neutrality, and insight particularlyacross ideological or institutional lines.</li></ul><ul><li>Strong project execution and systems thinking skills; able to lead initiatives from strategy to implementation.</li></ul><ul><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort leading workshops, training sessions, and drafting public-facing materials.</li></ul><ul><li>Confidence and credibility in working with senior leaders, funders, and subject matter experts.</li></ul><ul><li>Experience in developing governance tools, <span >institutionalsupports,</span> or policy frameworks is an asset.</li></ul><ul><li>High degree of discretion, emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity, and collaborative mindset.</li></ul><ul><li>Commitment to UJAs vision, values, and the broader vitality of Jewish communal life.</li></ul><ul><li>Ability to coach, influence, and build capacity in others.</li></ul><p>Additional Assets:</p><ul><li>Experience in crisis planning, organizational resilience, or reputational risk management.</li></ul><ul><li>Familiarity with governance, compliance, or institutional operations in the nonprofit or public sectors.</li></ul><ul><li>Background in civil discourse, bridge-building, or systemsconvening.</li></ul><p><br /></p><p>*This is a full-time permanent position. Salary Range: $160,000$175,000 annually, based on experience. At UJA we support a flexible work schedule and all of our employees engage in hybrid work.
