Job Description

Reporting to the HABS Division Manager, responsibilities for this position include the following:

Department Operations:

Guide the yard & warehouse team and delivery team in daily operations. Coordinate delivery schedule with shipping department and project centre (Ave C and Greystone). Ensures regular inventory counts are being done by creating a schedule for the team.Procurement and replenishment of yard and warehouse inventory. Assists with lumber purchases. Administers budget within department related to staffing, inventory, etc. Applies operational knowledge in key performance areas to oversee the allocation of team assignments to achieve department objectives. Analyze period end statements, identify if corrective action is required, and provide recommendations to the HABS Retail Store Manager. May plan, monitor, and manage internal projects from initiation to completion. Assists the HABS Retail Store Manager in communicating operational requirements, operational changes, and translate the vision into departmental initiatives. Provide recommendations and supports internal pricing, promotion and product policies in response to local market needs and competition. Promote and ensures adherence to brand and merchandising standards, marketing efforts, and image standards. Ensures all applicable company policies and procedures are communicated and adhered to and ensure safety and regulatory requirements and procedures are implemented and maintained.

Brand & Customer Service

Ensure image and customer service standards of yard & warehouse team and delivery team are met. Provides support in division brand initiatives and works to achieve brand objectives for department. Ensures prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service is provided at all times. Maintains high customer service levels to ensure customer satisfaction and identifies areas for improvement. Ensures all customer complaints, adjustments, and returns are handled in a quick and efficient manner. Take corrective action with team members if the established standards are not being met.

Lead and train yard & warehouse team and delivery team. Conduct regular team meetings. Provides supervision and support to the team and trains and coaches to increase product knowledge. Provide guidance to team members in the application of policies, practices, and procedures. Provide leadership to the department, including goal setting, performance management, training and development of team members. Applies operational knowledge in key performance areas to oversee the allocation of team assignments to achieve department objectives.

  • Asset Protection, Safety & Environmental Stewardship:

Responsible for coordination and supervision of safety, asset protection, and operational policies. Ensures a safe environment for employees and customers; providing training to handle equipment and machinery, maintaining current certifications, performing regular inspections. Reports incidents, workplace accidents and near misses as required. Aids in investigations in asset protection or other related matters. Implements corrective action to prevent future safety events.

Qualifications:

Grade 12 Diploma preferred, with a preference of a Business Certificate or Equivalent.

5+ years of experience in a retail setting is required. Minimum 3+ years’ of Hardware or lumber and building materials experience.

Class 5 Drivers License required. Preference to candidates with fleet management experience.
