Position Information:

Full-time Support Staff Position Opportunity

Payband: F; Starting Rate: $32.10; Four Year Rate: $37.04

Department: The Faculty of Hospitality and Horticultural Science (The Barrett Centre)

Hours: 35 hours per week (1) one hour lunch; Mon – Fri (8:30 am – 4:30 pm; with advanced notice, evenings and weekends may be required)

Reporting To: Barrett Centre – Partnerships Manager

Campus Location: Whitby

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Barrett Centre Events & Projects Coordinator will support the Barrett Centre's goal to increase its community engagement regionally, provincially, nationally, and globally. The responsibilities include:

  • Working collaboratively with other Barrett Centre and DC staff to identify, plan, and execute community programming opportunities:
  • Includes (but not limited to): Barrett Centre hosted events, workshops, and tours; special projects implementation (e.g., RBC programming received from external funders); and stakeholder communication to coordinate and execute programming.
  • Administration, maintenance, logistics, and implementation of CRM, Portal, and LMS.
  • Administer and maintain the CRM, Portal, and LMS, serving as the primary contact for system usage, reporting, and upgrades.
  • Coordinate back‑end requirements, with developers, and ensure accurate, consistent uploading and organization of all resources and records.
  • Build workflows and automations to streamline processes and prepare reports summarizing platform usage and engagement.
  • Supporting the manager with strategic planning for overall Barrett Centre programming and events.
  • The coordination of Urban Agriculture marketing objectives (includes social media content across platforms & implementation). This includes ensuring all social media platforms are up to date with posts relating to Barrett Centre programming and events, and in alignment with brand guidelines.
  • The programming workload of the Barrett Centre (including community programs and special projects). This could include the planning, coordination, implementation, and reporting of regular and special projects and of long-term community consultation projects related to urban agriculture.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a 3-year diploma or degree in Business Administration, Communications & Marketing, Urban Agriculture, Project Management, or General - BA.
  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience in coordinating programming & community engagement, coordinating with external stakeholders to implement specific programming and/or events and marketing and communications (including social media).
  • A minimum of 1 year of work experience with a member/customer relationship management platform (CRM) and/or community portal, and/or Learning Management Systems (LMS)
