Job Description

CURIE (Canadian Universities Reciprocal Insurance Exchange) located in Burlington, Ontario delivers cost effective, and solutions based, commercial insurance and risk management services to its members; Canadian post-secondary institutions in 9 provinces across the country.

The ideal candidate is responsible for overseeing enterprise data, providing technical support, and cyber risk analysis to support IT, underwriting, regulatory compliance, and operational decision making. Ensuring that the business adheres to industry standard cybersecurity frameworks and privacy laws. Working directly with IT and Member Services, the role supports cross departmental functions and contributes to the optimization of workflows and risk management practices. This position directly reports to the Vice President, Information Technology, Cyber Products & Member Services.

Key Responsibilities
Data Governance & Compliance
·Oversee the business data lifecycle, including data collection, classification, storage, protection, access, sharing, retention, and disposal.
·Classify, protect, and manage data assets using data management and data security platforms.
·Support the deployment and rollout of AI software solutions while enforcing principles and policy guidance.
·Ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and availability across systems and reporting outputs through audits and assessments of data usage.
·Monitor and support compliance with applicable data management software tools.
·Auditing software systems, reviewing access controls, and acceptable use principles.
·Maintain privacy, data protection, and security mandates through organizational policies, regulatory guidance, and cybersecurity frameworks, and/or any other related compliance requirements.

Cyber Risk & Insurance Support
·Issue, review, and assess cyber risk surveys in support of underwriting objectives and cyber line of business.
·Evaluate and assess cyber risk data, identifying trends, control gaps, and potential areas of concern.
·Support cyber insurance renewals by providing data-driven insights and deployment of cyber risk assessment surveys.
·Respond to underwriting and coverage-related inquiries by providing best-practice guidance on cyber controls and data protection.

Analytics Reporting & Technical Support
·Transform raw data into actionable insights through dashboards, reports, and executive summaries.
·Support leadership decision-making through timely, accurate, and well-governed data outputs.
·Provide ongoing ad-hoc internal/external technical support and member service through training and troubleshooting.
·Support with new software and hardware implementation, along with subsequent business workflow changes (including AI and non-AI solutions).
·Analyze data workflows and risk information to identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization.

Education & Requirements
·Bachelor's degree or diploma in information systems, Computer Science, Risk Management, Data analytics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
·Minimum 5–7+ years of relevant experience in the areas of data governance, data protection, cyber risk, IT Support or information security.
·Strong analytical, reporting, and data visualization skills.

Skills & Experience
· Experience in the insurance industry, preferably commercial or cyber insurance.
· Experience with data management and data governance platforms.
· Familiarity with cyber risk frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, NIST CSF/ AI RMF, CIS Controls).
· Experience providing technical support and customer care.
· Experience supporting audits, regulatory inquiries, or compliance assessments.
· Strong organizational and documentation skills.
· Ability to communicate complex technical and risk concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to support CURIE's subscribers and internal business operations.
· Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 Applications (SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate, Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
