<p>Position Summary</p><p>The Ship's Master has overall responsibility and authority regarding ship business, operations, discipline and for implementation and adherence, on board, to the Company's Safety Management System (SMS). Represent the Owner of the vessel in its operation and in the execution of the ship's business and any acts or decisions made are binding on the Company. Due to the erratic nature of vessel refuelling, all Officers of the Vessel are required to be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days a week and that a flex hour approach to the work schedule, maintenance and supervision of contractors, is taken.</p><p>Main Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Ensuring the safe and efficient loading and unloading of product from the vessel (docking and discharge).</li><li>Ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods to pre-designed destinations (maneuvering, operation of Navigational and radio equipment, steering, Ballast water management, navigation of rivers and directs line-handling operations, crew management).</li><li>Manager of all shipboard operations.</li><li>Implements Safety Management System on board the vessel. Supervises and conducts various safety related activities including safety drills, safety meetings.</li><li>Directing the crew in emergency situations in a manner that protects the safety of the crew, the environment and Company assets.</li><li>Maintaining and keeping vessel in compliance with various regulations as may be applicable by Transport Canada and / or local regulations.</li><li>Ensuring that all incidents involving crew injuries, environmental pollution and damage to Company assets are investigated to the highest standard.</li><li>Always exhibit exemplary leadership behavior.</li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills.</li></ul><p>Minimum Qualifications<br>The<br>Master<br>must hold the following minimum qualifications (subject to variance in the vessel's safe manning documents):</p><ul><li>Master Local Voyage Certificate 3000 GT Domestic.</li><li>A valid Marine Emergency Duties,</li><li>Marine Advanced First Aid Training</li><li>Simulated Electronic Navigation, SEN #2</li><li>Transport Canada Marine Medical Certificate</li><li>Radio Proficiency Certificate - ROC-MC.</li><li>MUST BE LOCATED WITHIN GTA/GTHA</li></ul><p>Additional Qualifications</p><ul><li>Occupational Health and Safety.</li><li>Oil Spill Response.</li><li>Ship handling.</li><li>Accident/Hazard Investigation training.</li><li>Hazard Prevention</li></ul>
