Bring yours to Block.</p><h3>The Role</h3><p>The Compliance Engineering team builds high-scale analysis and visualizations systems to find and stop criminal activity and other bad behavior in billions of dollars of person-to-person merchant and Bitcoin transactions across the globe. We design solutions and ship code with the customer-centric focus of a product organization serving Block Compliances financial crimes operations. Preventing known bad agents from interacting on our service reduces the chance that they negatively impact our users and upend their lives feeding into Block\'s mission to bring economic empowerment to all.</p><p>This role is for the Tooling Engineering team which builds robust and user-friendly tools to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of Block\'s Compliance operations.</p><h3>You Will</h3><ul><li>Collaborate with Compliance and Product Development teams to design and implement workflows for Block\'s Compliance programs</li><li>Create amazing data exploration and criminal case management tools for Block\'s Compliance organization</li><li>Write and deploy code across all of Block\'s ever-evolving architecture</li><li>Develop and support our tools as products with a focus on elegant solutions usability and our customer needs</li><li>Build our own platform of services and data pipelines architected for scale</li><li>Design to anticipate the future</li></ul><h3>You Have</h3><ul><li>Relevant Bachelor\'s degree (or equivalent practical experience)</li><li>8 years of relevant industry (or additional academic) experience</li><li>Experience working on distributed systems that require data consistency and high availability at scale</li><li>Proficiency in Kotlin Java or other object-oriented programming languages</li><li>Experience building user-facing tools</li><li>Experience contributing to system migrations or modernizations</li><li>Experience collaborating directly with stakeholder teams</li><li>An iterative approach to developing MVPs and shipping quickly</li></ul><h3>Technologies We Use and Teach</h3><ul><li>Kotlin Protocol Buffers GraphQL Typescript and React</li><li>Event-driven and microservice architectures</li><li>Both relational and garden-variety wide column NoSQL databases</li></ul><p>We\'re working to build a more inclusive economy where our customers have equal access to opportunity and we strive to live by these same values in building our workplace.
