Registered Nurse - Concurrent Youth Unit
As part of the Child, Youth & Emerging Adult Program, we are seeking a full-time, permanent Registered Nurse to work in the inpatient youth unit serving ages 13 to 18 (up to 21), with concurrent disorders involving substance addiction and mental health issues. Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will provide client-centered psychiatric, addictions, and general nursing care, including assessments, care planning, medication administration, and family support. You will support evidence-based care models such as Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Responsibilities
- Provide client-centered psychiatric, addictions, and general nursing care, including assessments, care planning, and medication administration.
- Support evidence-based care models such as Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
- Demonstrate behavioral observations, mental status assessments, crisis intervention, and effective communication within a multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to family support and education as part of care planning.
- Adapt to shift work at the Queen Street Site and participate in teamwork, decision-making, and crisis management.
Qualifications
- BScN degree and registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Preference is given to those with psychiatric/mental health certification and experience working with youth with complex needs.
- All applicants must undergo a Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check.
