Let's help you launch your career with BVR Veterinary Supplies – a Division of AVL/Solvet We are looking for an energetic and dedicated Quality Assurance Technician to join our team on-site in our Calgary facility working 40 hours/week (Monday - Friday).
THE ROLE
Responsible for overseeing Quality Assurance, compliance, documentation control, testing, training, and ERP/QMS administration to ensure all compounding operations meet regulatory and internal quality standards.
DAY-TO-DAY
- Review and verify Work Orders (WOs) before, during, and after compounding to ensure compliance with approved procedures and specifications.
- Perform final WO reconciliation against the ERP system and release daily compounded batches.
- Verify and approve product labels and confirm final saleable quantities prior to release.
- Communicate product release status to relevant departments to support downstream operations.
- Maintain and control Master Work Orders (MWOs), SOPs, forms, logbooks, and other controlled documents.
- Create, revise, and periodically review SOPs and related documents (Operations, Quality, Cleaning, Testing) to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Ensure Good Documentation Practices (GDP) are consistently applied.
- Review testing reports and logbooks for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
- Coordinate document updates with RVT and maintain the SOP matrix for ongoing compliance and process improvement.
- Identify, document, and investigate deviations, non-conformances, and OOS events in collaboration with RVT and VIC.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Monitor and trend quality events to support continuous improvement.
- Conduct monthly airborne particle monitoring in controlled areas.
- Export, review, trend, and archive temperature monitoring data.
- Perform endotoxin testing for sterile compounded products.
- Review and trend testing results and initiate investigations for alert/action limit excursions.
- Maintain and oversee ERP and QMS systems.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT) for system enhancements.
- Execute and manage quality-related activities within ERP/QMS, including super batches, quality orders, documentation, and batch release.
- Coordinate cross-functionally to resolve quality issues.
- Develop and maintain a structured training hierarchy aligned with role requirements.
- Provide initial and ongoing staff training.
- Maintain and monitor training and competency records within the QMS.
- Periodically review training requirements with RVT.
- Track and manage calibration and certification schedules for in-house equipment.
- Coordinate third-party calibration, certification, and requalification services.
- Prepare for and support audits and inspections (e.g., Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA)).
- Respond to audit findings and ensure corrective actions are implemented to closure.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards

IDEAL FIT
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences, Pharmacy, Chemistry or a related field
- 1–3 years of experience in Quality Assurance within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry
- Experience with United States Pharmacopeia 797, 795 and 71
- Familiarity with NAPRA & other applicable compounding and quality standards
