Job Summary
The Building Automation System (BAS) Project Coordinator / Site Lead is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, installation, commissioning, and delivery of BAS projects at assigned sites. This role serves as the primary on-site leader, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with client specifications and industry standards. The position bridges field operations, engineering teams, subcontractors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Management
- Coordinate all on-site BAS installation and commissioning activities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients.
- Review project scope, drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Track project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
- Assist in cost tracking, change orders, and documentation management.
- Conduct regular site meetings and provide progress reports.
Technical Oversight
- Oversee installation of DDC controllers, sensors, actuators, VFDs, and network infrastructure.
- Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings related to HVAC systems.
- Support system programming, graphics development, and integration.
- Coordinate commissioning activities, point-to-point checks, and system testing.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and communication issues.
Site Leadership
- Supervise field technicians, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and company policies.
- Maintain quality control and ensure installations meet project specifications.
- Facilitate inspections and ensure code compliance.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain updated project documentation (RFIs, as-builts, commissioning reports).
- Verify proper labeling, documentation, and system backups.
- Support turnover documentation and client training sessions.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–7+ years of experience in Building Automation / Controls systems.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and controls theory.
- Experience with BAS platforms such as Johnson Controls (FX), Siemens (Desigo), Niagra, Reliable, or similar.
- Familiarity with communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and control schematics.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and project tracking tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent).
- Experience with integration to Fire Alarm, Access Control, and Energy Management systems.
- OSHA safety certification (or local equivalent).
- Experience in healthcare, data centers, commercial high-rise, or industrial facilities.
