About our Client


Our client is an engineering-focused solution provider of machined castings, fabrications, and assemblies. They are seeking an experienced and results-driven Materials Manager to lead their materials planning, procurement, and inventory control functions in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This role is critical to ensuring the continuous and cost-effective flow of materials required for production while maintaining quality and just-in-time delivery standards.


Key Responsibilities


Strategic Materials Planning:

Develop and implement effective material strategies to support production schedules, minimize inventory costs, and ensure timely availability of components.

Inventory Management:

Oversee inventory accuracy, levels, and turnover through robust cycle counting and lean material management techniques.

Procurement & Vendor Management:

Collaborate with purchasing teams and suppliers to manage lead times, costs, and delivery performance. Identify opportunities for cost savings and value-added partnerships.

Production Scheduling Support:

Work closely with production planning and operations teams to align material availability with manufacturing schedules.

ERP & MRP Systems Oversight:

Manage and optimize ERP/MRP systems for materials planning, tracking, and reporting accuracy.

Cross-Functional Leadership:

Lead a team of material planners, inventory analysts, and logistics coordinators. Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Continuous Improvement & Compliance:

Drive initiatives to improve material flow, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency. Ensure compliance with all quality and environmental standards, including IATF 16949 and ISO 14001.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred)
  • 5–7+ years of experience in materials or supply chain management, preferably within the automotive or tier-1 manufacturing sector
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kanban, Just-In-Time (JIT), and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Proficient with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Plex) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities in a unionized or high-volume production environment
