Bombardieri Family Law is a boutique family law firm located in Oakville, Ontario. We are looking for a full-time legal assistant preferably with experience in family law. This position is for someone with resourcefulness, strong communication skills, a love of organizing, and a desire to work independently in a growing law firm
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of legal assistant experience;
- Knowledge of the Family Law Rules and Rules of Civil Procedure;
- Ability to take initiative, set priorities, multitask, and meet deadlines;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and comfortably with clients, team members, counsel, and third parties through by way of telephone, email, and in-person;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Experience with client billing and accounts payable;
- Experience with general office operation;
- Experience with training, supervising, and mentoring administrative staff;
- Experience with file management, working with accountant, and bookkeepers;
- Developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to work independently with little supervision;
- Well organized, quick learner, and proactive with a positive attitude and ability to prioritize tasks, workload, and time;
- Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat;
- Experience with Legal Accounting Software and Docusign;
- Ability to be a team player;
- Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Providing administrative and legal support to lawyers;
- Proofreading, drafting, editing and preparing legal and correspondence;
- Preparing, compiling, serving, and filing court documents;
- Filing, photocopying, scanning, faxing, etc.
- Opening and closing files;
- Communicating with clients, court, counsel, and other third parties;
- Maintaining calendars for lawyers;
- Docketing and saving emails and correspondence;
- Booking meetings, court appearances, consultations;
- Tracking deadlines and maintaining a follow-up system;
- Assisting with client hospitality / reception; and
- Other administrative duties as required.
