<p><b>Job Title:</b> Drafter</p><p> <b>Location:</b> Vaughan, Ontario</p><p> <b>Reports To:</b> Manager, Planning & Design</p><p> <b>Work Schedule:</b> Hybrid (4 days in-office, 1 day remote)</p><p> </p><p><b>About the Role:</b></p><p>We’re looking for a detail-oriented <b>Drafter</b> to join our Planning & Design team. In this role, you’ll use your technical drafting skills to support the design and preparation of utility and pipeline construction drawings in compliance with client, regulatory, and municipal standards. Working collaboratively with the Planning, Field Operations, and client teams, you’ll help ensure designs are accurate, efficient, and ready for construction.</p><p> </p><p><b>Primary Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>Prepare 2D design drawings, plans, and sketches using MicroStation and other CAD/GIS software.</li><li>Support the Planning team in developing drawings and layouts for pipeline and utility projects.</li><li>Design both plan and profile view drawings of proposed and existing infrastructure.</li><li>Ensure all drawings meet client, safety, mechanical, and structural standards.</li><li>Utilize GIS software to plot proposed designs and update as-built information.</li><li>Produce detailed pipeline drawings that include dimensions, bill of materials, and construction procedures.</li><li>Review and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and site plans.</li><li>Collaborate with Planning, Field Operations, and client teams to confirm design concepts and resolve issues.</li><li>Reference client standards, permit drawings, and municipal requirements to ensure compliance.</li><li>Record and report issues or discrepancies as required.</li><li>Perform other drafting-related duties as assigned.</li></ul><p> </p><p><b>What You Bring to the Table:</b></p><ul><li>Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Drafting, or a related discipline — or equivalent knowledge and experience.</li><li>Minimum 2 years of experience working with CAD software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Esri, e-GIS, or MS Visio.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).</li><li>Experience preparing as-built and utility construction drawings.</li><li>Ability to interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and site plans.</li><li>Knowledge of municipal standards and utility projects (gas distribution experience is an asset).</li><li>Strong mathematical, organizational, and multitasking skills.</li><li>Excellent attention to detail, communication, and teamwork abilities.</li><li>Estimating experience considered an asset.</li></ul><p> </p><p><b>Why Join Us</b></p><ul><li>Be part of a supportive, technical, and collaborative team.</li><li>Hybrid work model offering flexibility.</li><li>Opportunity to work on diverse utility and infrastructure projects.</li><li>Competitive compensation and benefits package.</li></ul><p> </p><p><b>Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion</b></p><p>NPL Canada is an equal opportunity employer.
