<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p>A growing real estate services organization is seeking a Controller to lead its property management accounting function. This role offers broad ownership over financial operations, direct exposure to senior leadership, and the opportunity to shape processes within a collaborative, people-first environment. This position is ideal for a hands-on finance leader with strong property management accounting experience who values team culture, mentorship, and continuous improvement.<br><br><strong>About the Role:</strong><br><br>Reporting into a senior finance leader, the Controller is responsible for overseeing the full accounting and financial operations related to a diversified property management portfolio. The role combines team leadership with technical oversight, supporting accurate reporting, budgeting, cash management, and property-level decision-making.<br><br><strong>What You’ll Do:</strong><br><br><ul><li>Lead, mentor, and support a team across property accounting, AP, and AR</li><li>Oversee month-end close, reconciliations, trust accounting, and financial controls</li><li>Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages for stakeholders</li><li>Manage cash flow, forecasts, and owner distributions across multiple properties</li><li>Review annual operating budgets and CAM reconciliations</li><li>Partner closely with operational teams to resolve issues and support informed decisions</li><li>Support internal and external audits, including regulatory trust audits</li><li>Lead financial onboarding and offboarding of properties</li><li>Improve accounting processes, workflows, and reporting accuracy as the portfolio scales</li></ul><br /><strong>What You Bring:</strong><br><br><ul><li>5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within property management or real estate</li><li>Strong working knowledge of CAM reconciliations and lease structures</li><li>Experience leading or mentoring accounting teams</li><li>Hands-on systems experience; exposure to property management platforms is an asset but not required</li><li>CPA designation preferred but not mandatory</li><li>Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset</li><li>Comfortable balancing leadership responsibilities with hands-on execution</li></ul><br /><strong>Why Join:</strong><br><br><ul><li>Collaborative, close-knit team with a strong emphasis on culture and fit</li><li>Visible role with direct access to senior leadership and mentorship</li><li>Opportunity to influence processes and build scalable financial operations</li><li>Flexible compensation structure aligned to experience and performance</li></ul></p></p>
