You will lead all financial aspects of SDC’s growing group of businesses, partnerships, and investments—ranging from payroll and compliance to deal structuring and financial systems integration. You will play a key role in building the financial foundation of the corporation while helping guide long-term wealth creation for the Nation.</p><h3>Employment Details</h3><ul><li><b>Job Type:</b> Full-time, 2-year contract (with possibility of extension.)</li><li><b>Salary:</b> ~$150,000 annually, plus benefits.</li><li><b>Schedule:</b> Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Some evenings and weekends as needed.</li><li><b>Location:</b> 1500C Admirals Rd, Victoria, BC. In-person, with travel to partner sites and events.</li><li><b>Start Date:</b> October 1, 2025, or as mutually agreed.</li></ul><h3>Principal Responsibilities</h3><ul><li><b>Financial Strategy & Leadership</b><br/>Develop and execute a financial strategy aligned with Songhees Nation’s goals for growth, sustainability, and sovereignty.</li><li><b>Investment, Banking & Deal Structuring</b><br/>Lead financial due diligence and structuring for acquisitions, joint ventures, and partnerships. Build trusted relationships with financial institutions and impact investors.</li><li><b>Financial Systems Integration & Operational Finance</b><br/>Integrate financial systems across multiple entities and platforms (QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, etc.) to create a unified reporting structure.</li><li><b>Accounting, Payroll & Compliance</b><br/>Oversee day-to-day operations including payroll, budgeting, and compliance across diverse business units. Ensure all subsidiaries meet tax and licensing requirements.</li><li><b>Governance & Capacity Building</b><br/>Build and mentor a finance team within SDC. Provide regular reporting to the CEO and Board. Help design governance frameworks for future financial institutions.</li><li><b>Stakeholder Relations</b><br/>Represent SDC with professionalism and cultural integrity in interactions with the Nation, investors, partners, and stakeholders.</li></ul><h3>Experience / Qualifications</h3><ul><li>CPA designation or equivalent (MBA, CFA, or similar advanced financial certification preferred)</li><li>8–10+ years of senior financial leadership experience, ideally within Indigenous organizations, multi-entity corporations, or investment funds</li><li>Demonstrated success managing finance operations (payroll, accounting, systems) in complex environments</li><li>Strong grasp of corporate finance, tax efficiency, systems integration, and investment structuring</li><li>Experience in M&A environments and post-acquisition financial integration is an asset</li><li>Familiarity with Indigenous financial frameworks (e.g., FNFMA, FMB, FNFA) is a strong asset</li><li>Excellent leadership, relationship-building, and strategic planning skills</li></ul><h3>Cultural Alignment</h3><p>The CFO is expected to uphold and reflect Songhees Nation’s core values: Eyēʔ Sqȃ’lewen – With One Heart and One Mind, we commit to help one another, forgive one another, and love one another with respect, honesty, and courage.</p><h3>To Apply</h3><p>We welcome applications from both Indigenous and non-Indigenous candidates with a passion for economic reconciliation and impact.</p><p>Please submit your resume and cover letter for consideration to: admin@songheesdevco.com.</p><p>Accommodations for applicants with disabilities are available upon request during the recruitment process.</p><p>We thank all applicants for their interest.
