<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><p><strong>Building and Engineering Development Manager</strong></p><p><strong>Location:</strong> Kamloops, BC</p><p><br /></p><p><strong>Salary Range:</strong> $160-180K + Comprehensive Benefits + Relocation Support</p><p><br /></p><p><strong>The Opportunity:</strong></p><p>In this role, you will oversee a team of 17 staff, ensuring building permit and infrastructure development applications are processed effectively, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations. This high-profile leadership position requires strong collaboration, sound judgment, technical expertise, and a proactive approach in working with internal teams, the development industry, and the public.</p><p><br /></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Manage the processing of building permits and infrastructure development applications.</li><li>Ensure compliance with municipal regulations, bylaws, and provincial building codes.</li><li>Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of technical staff.</li><li>Collaborate with stakeholders, developers, architects, and contractors to facilitate quality growth and development.</li><li>Represent the municipality in development-related discussions, meetings, and public forums.</li></ul><p><br /></p><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>A degree in Civil Engineering OR a two-year diploma in Building or Civil Engineering Technology.</li><li>Registration or eligibility for registration with EGBC or ASTTBC.</li><li>Minimum of three years’ experience in municipal design and field inspection (waterworks, sewerage, drainage, roads, structures).</li><li>7–10 years of proven supervisory and leadership experience.</li><li>Strong knowledge of the BC Building Code, construction standards, and municipal legislation (Local Government Act, Community Charter).</li><li>Proficiency with digital platforms and software related to building and infrastructure development.</li><li>Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across a wide range of stakeholders.</li><li>Ability to interpret and explain building code requirements clearly.</li></ul><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><strong>About Kamloops:</strong></p><p>Surrounded by breathtaking natural landscapes and infused with small-town charm and big-city amenities, Kamloops offers a unique lifestyle that’s second to none.
