This employment opportunity is restricted to residents of Iqaluit only.Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Senior Human Resources Coordinator (Coordinator) plans, develops and implements strategies, guidelines and processes to improve employee relations and performance management programs. This position plans and implements processes to increase employee retention. The Coordinator ensures that departmental employees are provided with pro-active responses to employee issues and concerns. This position acts as the Department’s employee relations (ER) contact by assisting in the grievance administration process, providing advice in performance management, disciplinary action, and employee relations matters, and liaises with the ER division of the Department of Human Resources (HR) to resolve any employee issues. This work is completed in accordance with HR and applicable legislation, policies, procedures and collective agreements, and ensures quality HR and client services, in accordance with the HR goals and objectives of the Government of Nunavut.The Coordinator provides expert advice, training and guidance to management regarding staff relations, interpretation of the collective agreements, the terms and conditions of employment and promote a positive work environment.The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized college diploma in Human Resources Management or related field, plus four (4) years of progressive experience in the Human Resources field. Training and education in Labour Relations and experience working in a multi-unionized environment will be considered assets.The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.Acceptable combinations of education and experience may be considered for this position.
